How to Relax During Q4

Q4 is one of the most exciting, yet most stressful times of the year. Your company is gearing up for much needed holiday vacations to round out the year. However, you still have to make sure that your business has a profitable last quarter. How do you relax during Q4 and still get everything done? Follow these tips to help manage stress during the final weeks of the year.   

Delegate! Delegate! Delegate!  

You have heard the saying, “Many hands make light work.” As a manager, it can be tempting to take all the work on yourself. This will very quickly lead to burnout. Make sure you are delegating end-of-the-year tasks evenly among your staff so that nobody feels overly stressed.   

Prioritize Tasks  

This is the time of year when many employees will be taking holiday vacation and/or paid-time-off that they have accumulated throughout the year. For many employers, this means you will be running with fewer staff members at any given time during this last month. Prioritizing is important. Make a list of what absolutely must be done by the end of the year and what can wait until Q1 of next year. If you get your must-haves done, fantastic! Move on to your Q1 list.   

Maintain Work-Life Balance  

Despite the end-of-the-year push to get everything done, maintain a healthy work-life balance. Decide how many hours you will work each day. When you are off, leave work at work. This means stepping away from the phone and emails unless it is an absolute emergency. Spend time with your family and doing things that you enjoy. It is also important to get enough sleep and eat right to lower stress levels during Q4.   

Keep an Exercise Regimen  

Exercise is a great way to relieve stress by releasing endorphins that elevate your mood. Find time in your busy schedule for at least a quick exercise routine and encourage your employees to do the same. Even a 20-minute walk can do wonders for lowering stress levels and boosting overall physical, emotional, and mental health.
