Interview Questions for Purchasing Coordinators

Purchasing coordinators are responsible for purchases that companies make from their vendors. They have to prepare and process purchase orders, keep records of purchases, maintain information about vendors, provide descriptions of purchases and bids. They make sure that necessary inventory is kept in stock.

The coordinator also schedules delivery of goods and makes sure that purchases are documented. They make sure orders are made in a timely manner so there are no shortages.

The coordinator needs to have good communications skills because they need to work with various departments in the company to make orders and keep those departments up to date on orders that have already been made.

6. Tell me about an effective strategy you have used to arrange for processing and resale of items.
7. Give me an example of your management style and directing people. What makes you a good manager?
8. Talk about what you do when things go wrong. Give an example.
9. Tell me about a time when you arranged for storage and transportation of items. How do you do this successfully?
10. How do you figure out accurately what product types to buy and the amounts that you need?
11. Give me an example of a time when you handled a stress-filled situation or worked under pressure.
12. What type of record system do you use? How would you improve it?
13. Tell me about a time when you were tenacious in the face of adversity.
14. What is the hardest part of budgeting for you?
15. Tell me about a time when you thought outside the box.
