Often, employers receive resumes from people who are clearly overqualified for the job they are applying for. Employers generally are reluctant to hire these job candidates because they are afraid that these workers will quickly become bored with the job and leave, or that they will demand too much money.

But looking at the skills these people bring to the table, it might be the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. For that reason, you may want to consider hiring someone who may appear overqualified. Here are some of those advantages that you get with an overqualified person.

They probably won’t need much training.

They will be able to begin doing the job right away because the job candidate will probably bring most of the skills needed for the work. This shortened onboarding process also means an increase in productivity. Having all the necessary skills, the worker will be able to immediately begin adding to the bottom line. Even if they don’t stay with the company for a lengthy period of time, they will probably make an oversized contribution during that time.

They will probably be easier to manage.

Again, because they have all the skills needed, and more, they won’t need to be told what to do for every task. They are likely to be independent workers who won’t need a lot of hand holding. Very few people enjoy micromanaging, and the sooner employees can be trusted to do the work on their own, the sooner the entire department becomes more efficient and more productive.
