Tax Analyst

Responsibilities
• Serve as a contact for sales tax questions from ESRI personnel; identify, diagnose, and recommend corrections to the issues that arise
• Call customers to explain company tax policies and specific tax law on an as-needed basis
• Perform income tax, sales tax, and property tax filings during heavy filing periods and as a backup to other staff; ensure that all property tax, annual report, and business license filings and payments are made in a timely basis
• Coordinate outside sales tax audits including identifying and accumulating the necessary information and present to auditors in cooperation with the tax manager; interface with outside audit firms on tax strategy issues as needed
• Develop, enhance, and monitor performance metrics for income tax and sales tax; regularly analyze areas of improvement
• Review and write policies and procedures that pertain to income tax, sales tax, and property taxes
• Work with other personnel in testing system upgrades to Taxware, Insource, CCH Income Tax, SAP, and other systems
• Review and identify new developments in tax law that affect ESRI; update information on the sales tax Web portal
• Audit existing products and customers in the accounting systems for accuracy of tax calculations
Requirements
• Bachelor’s in accounting or business with a minor in accounting
• Two to four years of experience dealing with sales tax and/or income tax issues
• Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated ability to independently plan and organize daily activities
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Recommended Qualifications
• Knowledge of flowcharting software (Visio, ABC)
• Sales tax or income tax filing software system experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Access and SAP R/3
