Start the Day Better by Doing This the Night Before

Many people believe they need to get a good start to their day if they want to perform at their best and be the most productive. They focus on the morning routine, and what they need to do to hit the ground running. But in the quest for success, you don’t want to overlook the night before as well. What you do then can help you get your day off to the best start. Here are a few things you may want to do before you turn in for the night.

1. Write down the most important things you need to do next day

Write down the top three tasks that you absolutely have to get done the next day. These are the three most important things you need to do. This will help you to get out of the gate fast the next day – you will already know what you need to focus on. Getting into this habit will take time and don’t be disappointed or frustrated if you forget. Stay locked in on doing this consistently and see the results.

2. Write down your thoughts

We all have leftovers at the end of the day – ideas, emotions, and thoughts about things that happened during the day. Writing down these things that are floating around in your head may help you to get a new perspective on them, may enable you to formulate some way of handling them or resolving them.

3. Get your wardrobe ready for the next day

Get your clothes out for the next day and have them ready to go. This way, you won’t have to worry about picking out your outfit the next morning. Be sure you check the weather forecast first so you aren’t surprised. The fewer decisions you have to make in the morning will allow you to get out the door faster and be ready to go at full mental capacity.

4. Straighten up your handbag or briefcase

During the course of the day, you probably collected things in these items that you don’t need, and the contents have probably become jumbled up. Take a few minutes to clean these items out and get them ready for the next day. This habit is another one that will take time to develop. Even if you start with cleaning out your bag weekly, purging will help you greatly.

5. Take some time to unwind

About 30 minutes before bedtime, do something to relax and get yourself ready to go to sleep. It could be reading, listening to music, or simply savoring a good glass of wine. Try to avoid anything electronic, however, since these devices tend to stimulate our minds more than relax us. You also could come across work emails, which could increase your stress level at the wrong time of day.
